About District 4 and Little League Baseball, Inc.

Washington District 4 is comprized of eight leagues that serve the needs of girls, and boys ages 5 to 18.

Little League Baseball is a Federal Incorporation granted under a Bill signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 17, 1964, and amended December 24, 1974, to reflect the admission of girls. The legislation, which received unanimous approval from both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, is Public Law 88-378. It is the highest recognition that the federal government can accord. It provides for incorporation of Little League Baseball in all 50 states as an educational institution, endowing the program with protective integrity by the U.S. Government.

Little League’s purpose is to provide a wholesome, healthy activity for children using the ball field as a classroom to instill discipline, team work, sportsmanship and fair play, and to establish a set of values to guide them into adulthood and, hopefully, responsible citizenship.
